Okay, I was totally inspired at our Super Saturday to get organized. Catherine Peck from the 9th ward came and taught a class on home organization. Among other things, she emphasized, "a place for everything and everything in its place." She also gave us hope by saying to start with one thing, finish that, and then work on the next.

So........

Our special visitor!

We were so blessed to have Elder Jeffrey R. Holland of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles come to visit us today. He was here training leader from 14 stakes and chose our stake to visit for a special stake conference. He was at the stake center while our ward was assigned to be at the Road 108 building. It was a little sad not to be able to be in the same building as him, but the spirit was still very strong and listening and seeing him was wonderful! I just wanted to record some of the things he spoke about. He testified of the Savior and his resurrection. He testified that the priesthood power continued on earth after his crucifixion and that miracles took place with the apostles of old. He also testified that he has the same calling as those ancient apostles and said, "I am a witness." When you realize what the calling of an apostle is, then you understand what he means when he says such a statement and the power of that testimony. He also pronounced a blessing on us. He blessed the men to rise up and use the power of the priesthood for good in their homes, their communities and their nations. He blessed the women by saying how wonderful we are and that we are the reason good men like him have made it to where they are. He blessed the children and teenagers that they would not be overcome by evil. He told the teenagers of the stake to never, ever leave the church. He said that he knows more than them and that he was once their age, but they have never been his age. (He has a pretty good sense of humor, actually.) Anyway, it was wonderful and I tried to impress upon Noah that this apostolic visitor was very special and the last time we had an apostle in our stake was 26 years ago. Gavin was too young to understand, but they both behaved really well sitting there for 2 hours. I've never born my testimony on my blog, but I do want to testify that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is Christ's church on earth. That we have a prophet today who leads this church under the direction of the Savior himself. I love this gospel with all my heart and try everyday to live worthy of the blessings that can be mine and my family's. I hope to be with them forever someday. We are so blessed to live in this nation and live in this day with wonderful technology and the ability to listen to a prophet's voice. I also know that the Book of Mormon is true and anyone who truly wants to find out the truth can read it for themselves and pray and receive an answer regarding its truthfulness.

Here's our Silverwood trip. It was rainy and the water park was closed, but it kept the crowds away. Hey, we lived in Portland for 4 years, what's a little rain? Gavin rode his first roller coasters, the Timber Terror and Tremors. Go Gavin! He cried during both rides, but later said that was his favorite part.

Do you like Cache's sweatshirt? I forgot to bring him one and the stores in Silverwood only had 2T as their smallest size. Never mind that I had two sweatshirts at home that fit him perfectly.

My brother, Jake, just returned from his mission to Minneapolis. We were able to surprise him at the airport in Utah this last weekend. It is amazing the man he has become! There's almost nothing like seeing a returned missionary. Jake is the one on the bottom left.

Hi everybody! I haven't had the baby yet, but on my last doctor's visit, the doctor asked how I was doing and I replied, "I'm ready to be done!" That's all it took and he scheduled me an inducement date of April 28th! There's hope! I don't know why, but it's either the 3rd baby or because I'm getting older that this is so much harder than before. I hope I don't scare any of those two children parents out there. It's all worth it! I'll post pictures of the baby when he comes. We're naming him Cache.

You know it's been too long since you posted to your blog when you have to type in your blog address in the address bar, it doesn't just come up automatically because you were on it in the last month. Well, I'm not very good at this blog thing, but I enjoy posting every once in awhile and hope you enjoy my posts too.

I've decided to post my goodreads webpage. When I could sit down in one night and put 40 plus books on my list that I've read, I realized how big a part of my life books are. I have always loved reading and remember reading Nancy Drew when I was young and loving the mystery and suspense of those books. I might laugh at them if I read them today. And, what girl didn't read Judy Blume when she was pre-teen in the 80's? Most of the time today, I would rather read than watch t.v. or a video. Rob must think I'm pretty boring a lot of nights, because he'll just find me reading away. But, I love the depth you can get from a book and the fact that you can get into the character's head through a book, unlike in a movie. I never like a movie more than the book and I think that's pretty universal.

Christmas adventure

Why do I have a Travelodge banner on my blog, you may ask. No, I am not advertising for them. This is where we stayed on Christmas eve night in La Grande, OR. Crazy, right? Well, let me tell you the story. We were traveling to Idaho on Christmas eve. When I checked the Weather Channel's website, there was supposed to be no snow east of the Tri Cities. Well, they were wrong. There were actually three storms that night and they closed the freeway at La Grande. We were going to just turn around and go home, but there was a storm behind us. So, we were lucky enough to get a hotel. Noah whined understandably, "But, Santa won't know where we are!" "No, Noah, Santa always knows where you are," I replied. Luckily Santa found us, although no Christmas tree in the background. I don't think the boys cared. They just wanted the presents anyway. The freeway was pure ice and snow the whole way to Burley and the freeway was closed to Utah, so we couldn't get to Utah, but had a nice time visiting Rob's family that weekend. Sorry, Utah family and friends! We love you!

Rob is now a licensed funeral director! It has been a long road and a long time in the making. We started this goal in 2002 and usually the end result after so many years is a doctor or lawyer, but no, Rob is a funeral director. But, we are so excited! Yeah!

Well, as you can see, we are going to add another baby boy to the family. Life is never dull, that's for sure. We are very excited, but are having trouble thinking of a name. Oh well, it will come. We almost left the hospital without thinking of a name for Noah. I'm feeling great, just a little tired. But, that could just be from the two little boys at home I have to take care of. I love it, though!

Okay, funny story I had to share. Rob took the boys to the doctor's today for shots and flu mist. When they were done, Rob was in the lobby with the boys talking to the doctor. When he turned around, Gavin had pulled down his pants and underwear to inspect his bandaid covered shot. So, first of all, why did Gavin need to look at it? Secondly, why did he need to pull down his underwear to do it too? I had to document the story so I wouldn't forget.

Okay, three people tagged me. So, I don't have to do this three times, do I? Thanks, Mollie, Teri, and Laurel.

1. I was very shy when I was younger. In choir in junior high, I had to have my friend ask this boy to be my dance partner for our performance. I hardly talked to him the whole time we were rehearsing for our big show.

2. My best summer was after my first year at BYU working at Jacob Lake, AZ. It was on the way there I decided to "change my personality". I became outgoing and fun. I wasn't scared because I didn't know anybody there and they didn't know how I was before. It was a great learning experience.

3. Although Rob was interested in me first, I asked him out before he asked me out.

4. I tried out and didn't make the drill team for my junior year, but tried again the next year and made it. I had a great senior year.

5. I like sugar in almost any form. Same with potatoes. I just can't get enough carbs.

6. I went to Europe after high school graduation in 1992. While in Munich, I saw a Michael Jackson concert. We bought scalped tickets. The Germans were so calm. We were on the floor of the olympic stadium and could go almost all the way to the front because we were pushy Americans taking advantage of the nice Germans. The concert was unreal.

7. I'm pregnant! Due April 30th. Yay! I get to cut to part time after that!

Hello everyone. Yes, we have moved. That is why I haven't posted anything for awhile. I just can't seem to find the time to take pictures of the house yet. On top of all the normal work that needs to be done, I still have a house to put together. I don't know if we ever finish that, though. It's fun to buy new things for your house. I will get pictures up soon, though. We like the 1st ward. It's not as crowded as we thought it would be. We will miss our friends in 8th ward, though. Good thing we can keep in touch. You almost feel like you fall off the face of the earth if you move, huh?

Anyway, I have been looking for a good spaghetti sauce recipe. Will you guys share your recipes with me? I'm looking for a nice saucy sauce with lots of flavor. I just can't seem to get it right. Thanks for your responses and I look forward to hearing from you.

No cool pictures

I don't have any cool pictures to share this week. This is mainly because our house is a little crazy right now with getting ready to move. Buying a house can be a real headache sometimes. But, hopefully I'll forget all my troubles when I have a nice big house, right? Oh, and then there's the sprinklers, the blinds, the unpacking, and trying to figure out how Noah's getting to school without a bus where we live. Never mind. That's life, right.

So, I am sharing my recipe for Ceviche. It's a Mexican dish that is great as an appetizer or even a main dish.

1/2 pound peeled, de-veined raw shrimp, diced into small pieces
juice of 3 limes
2 small or 1 large tomato, diced finely
1/4 onion, diced finely
1 cucumber, diced finely
1/3 bunch cilantro, chopped finely

Place shrimp in bowl and cover with lime juice (the lime juice cooks the shrimp). Let sit for at least 45 minutes. Add remaining ingredients and serve with Tostitos Scoops. This is even better the next day. Enjoy!

Out of all the jobs I have, being a mother is definitely the most challenging, yet also the most rewarding. Here are some of the things I did this week as a mother. Hope everyone has a fun Labor Day.

Allright, I missed the first day of school pictures, because we were running around that morning, almost forgetting everything that goes along with getting to school with lunch and not missing the bus. Rob didn't believe that I needed his help in the morning. So, this is Noah's second day of school.

This is what I spent about two hours on Saturday doing. Thanks to Alicia and Linda for their tomatoes. I didn't have to buy a single one. I love eating garden food.

So, after two weeks of Pull-Ups at night, Gavin did not wet them once. Then as soon as I put him in underwear, he wets every night this week almost. So, this is what my backyard looked like most of this week. Notice, even the pillow had to be washed.

My first blog post

Well, this is my first blog post and I think I could get addicted. I don't know who will read it, but I think I will enjoy keeping a kind of journal. I never was good at keeping a written book one. This just may be the motivation I need to do that (sharing pictures and news of my kids is always fun to me). It's family history, right?

We've had a busy and fun summer. I wanted to post some pics from our trip to the Oregon coast, from our trip to Idaho and Utah, from Gavin's birthday, and Noah's first soccer practice. Thanks to our wonderful friends, the Houser's (Keslie of KB photography) for taking such nice professional photographs of our kids while at the coast.
